Web Accessibility Testers is a project to bring innovative employment for disabled people, the employment that will be a natural part of their lives.

Who can be better test accessibility than disabled people themselves!!! Most web developers act in blindness when they design accessible websites, since they lack knowledge about disabled people and the technology they use. Accessibility guidelines and validation tools doesn't provide this insight. Rather accessibility should rather be approached from a user-centered perspective.

More companies and organizations are starting to realize that their websites do not work for users who experience physical barriers to the accessing the Internet. They are loosing users as a result of not testing their websites in real world situations of how disabled people use such sources. The biggest corporations realized the problem years ago and had have user experience analysts, usability specialists and even web behavior psychologists on their staff. Smaller companies and non-profit organizations simply cannot afford such personnel. At the same time, they can not afford to have their websites invisible and non-accessible for their customers and clients.

Specialists who can test and analyze user experience are expensive and must be highly experienced in technology and psychology. Even with such skills and knowledge it's difficult for them to simulate and/ or fully understand the experience of disabled users. This is where disabled people are the best solution to web accessibility testing.

By empowering people with disabilities and assisting them to use their skills and abilities creatively, we can provide them with fun and stable employment in an area that is becoming hot and in big demand. Once trained to become web accessibility testers, these individuals will be matched with organizations and companies that want their websites and online information be accessible and readable for disabled people.

We see disabled Accessibility Testers as natural part of the web working toward full accessibility for everybody. It should not matter where people live, what equipment and browsers they use, what language they speak and what health barriers they have in order for them to participant in the new social sphere of the Internet

Remember that web accessibility is not luxury anymore, it's essential to provide adequate web experience and equal access to your web information; and in many cases web accessibility is the law.
